Joe Kippley named as Public Health Director by TenHaken in Sioux Falls

Joe Kippley, a Brookings native and Minnehaha County Commissioner for the past year, has been appointed as Sioux Falls’ next Public Health Director by Mayor Paul TenHaken. Kippley previously served as the clinic director of cardiology at Sanford Health in Sioux Falls, where he gained extensive experience in health care facilities in Illinois and Mississippi.

Mayor TenHaken praised Kippley’s commitment to serving the community and his involvement in volunteer efforts, stating that he is dedicated to making Sioux Falls a better place. His law degree and background in health care make him a valuable asset for the role, according to the mayor.

Kippley expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and stated that he is honored to lead the team at the Sioux Falls Health Department. He believes that local government plays a crucial role in serving the community and is eager to bring his passion for this city to positively impact public health. The appointment of the Public Health Director will be subject to approval by the city council, with presentations scheduled for the upcoming meeting on May 21.
