Diamondbacks Bolster Starting Rotation with Montgomery Signing

Diamondbacks sign one-year contract with left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery

The Arizona Diamondbacks have strengthened their starting rotation by signing left-handed pitcher Jordan Montgomery to a one-year contract. The deal is worth up to $25 million and includes a vesting option for 2025. With a career 3.68 ERA and a 38-34 record over 141 appearances, Montgomery brings valuable experience to the Diamondbacks’ pitching staff.

Montgomery spent last season with the St. Louis Cardinals and Texas Rangers. In his first 21 starts with the Cardinals, he posted a 6-9 record with a 3.42 ERA. After being traded to the Rangers in July, he went 4-2 with a 2.79 ERA over his final 11 starts, helping the team secure their first World Series title by going 3-1 in the postseason.

The Diamondbacks open their season against the Colorado Rockies in Phoenix on Thursday, with Montgomery joining a strong rotation that features pitchers like Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, Tommy Henry, Brandon Pfaadt, and Ryne Nelson.
