New Cancer Center Opened by Franciscan Health in West Central Indiana

The Franciscan Health Cancer Center Lafayette, which is the largest comprehensive cancer center in Tippecanoe County, has finally opened its doors to patients. The center offers a wide range of services including screenings, diagnostics, and treatments all in one convenient location.

As the president and CEO of Franciscan Health Western Indiana, Terry Wilson emphasized the importance of the new building and updated technology in providing top-notch care to cancer patients in the community. Wilson hopes that by consolidating services under one roof, patients will receive exceptional care and service.

With a $43 million investment, the three-story, 68,000-square-foot facility is now operational. Maria Vought, the director of the oncology service line at the center, highlighted the impact of reducing travel time for patients and making cancer services more accessible. Being able to receive treatment locally also allows patients to maintain closer connections with their families during their care.

In addition to medical services, the center offers support services such as financial aid, transportation assistance, and case management for patients in need. Looking to the future, Wilson expressed interest in partnering with Purdue University to conduct clinical trials aimed at improving treatment options for patients. The goal is to continue providing innovative and top-quality care to the community.
