Padraig Harrington Claims Seventh PGA Tour Champions Victory at Hoag Classic

Harrington clinches victory at Hoag with impressive birdie-birdie finish after double bogey

Padraig Harrington claimed his seventh PGA Tour Champions victory on Sunday at the Hoag Classic, held at the windy Newport Beach Country Club. Despite a double bogey on the par-4 16th hole, Harrington rallied with birdies on the final two holes to secure a one-stroke win over Thongchai Jaidee.

After a wayward drive led to trouble on the 16th, Harrington recovered with a downhill 15-foot putt on the 17th and an 8-footer on the 18th to finish at 14-under 199 with a final round score of 2-under 69. The 52-year-old Irishman, who is set to be inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in June, boasts victories in The Open in 2007 and 2008, as well as the PGA Championship in 2008.

Jaidee, hailing from Thailand, also carded a 69 but fell short after a par on the final hole. Miguel Angel Jimenez finished two strokes back after a final round score of six under par. Stephen Ames secured fourth place at eleven under with a score of six seven while Jerry Kelly and K.J. Choi finished at ten under and Steve Stricker was one stroke further back after scoring seven over par.
