Record-breaking performances at the 2024 Korean Olympic Trials: Kim Woomin, Ji Yuchan, and other stars secure their spots in Paris

Kim Woomin Dominates Korean Olympic Trials with Impressive Time of 3:43.69 to Secure World Champion Title

The 2024 Korean Olympic Trials concluded in Gimcheon with outstanding performances from several athletes. Kim Woomin, the world champion in the men’s 400m free, dominated the event with a time of 3:43.69. Although this was slightly off his personal best of 3:42.71 set in Doha last month, it was still an impressive feat and solidified his position as one of the top competitors in the world in this event. Kim has already qualified for the Paris Olympics in the 200m free and 1500m free events.

In addition to Kim’s impressive performance, Ji Yuchan took gold in the men’s 50m free with a time of 22.25. This was a significant achievement for Ji, who is the reigning Asian Games champion in this event and set a national and Games record of 21.72 last year. The Korean Swimming Federation’s High-Performance Committee will soon decide on the final roster for Paris based on these outstanding performances by athletes like Kim and Ji, along with other notable results such as Heo Yeon-kyung winning gold in the women’s 50m free and Kim Seoyeong being the quickest in the women’s 100m fly. Through Day 5 of the trials, several athletes have already secured their spots in the Paris Olympics, including Lee Juho, Lee Eunji, Choi Dong-yeol, Kim Minseop, Hwang Sunwoo, Cho Sung Jae, and Ji Yuchan.
