Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry to Team Up at the Zurich Classic in 2024: Could They Break PGA Tour Starts Record?

McIlroy and Lowry to join forces at Zurich Classic of New Orleans

Rory McIlroy is set to make a return to the golf course at the Zurich Classic, which takes place from April 25-28 at TPC Louisiana. This will be his first appearance at the event, which switched to a two-man team format in 2017. He will be teaming up with Shane Lowry, his fellow European Ryder Cup teammate, for the occasion.

McIlroy has already played seven times in 2024 and could be playing in his fourth consecutive tournament, following the Valero Texas Open, the Masters, and the event at Harbour Town. This means that he could potentially tie for the record for most starts in a single year on the PGA Tour.

Lowry has participated in the Zurich Classic three times, with his most recent appearance in 2022 alongside Ian Poulter, where they finished 13th. On the other hand, Lowry has played seven times this year, including a recent appearance at the Porsche Singapore Classic on the DP World Tour, where he tied for 29th.

The Zurich Classic is scheduled to take place just a week after the RBC Heritage and will feature some of the top golfers in the world. McIlroy and Lowry are sure to put on an impressive show and provide fans with some exciting golf action.
