Saudi Arabia’s Dragon Ball Z Theme Park and Anime Movie Collaborations: A Reflection of the Kingdom’s Growing Interest in Video Games and Japanese Culture

The first Dragon Ball Z theme park in the world is being constructed in Saudi Arabia.

The Dragon Ball Z theme park is set to open in Saudi Arabia, as part of the country’s Qiddiya project. The 5.3 million square foot entertainment venue will consist of seven different areas inspired by locations from the original anime series, and will feature over 30 themed rides, including five world-first attractions. One standout ride is the Shenron roller coaster, which will soar to heights of 230 feet.

Meanwhile, at the 2019 Gamescom gaming trade fair in Cologne, Germany, visitors had the chance to try out the latest version of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot. The popular video game franchise drew in crowds eager to experience the newest features and gameplay elements.

Furthermore, a collaboration between Japan-based manga producer Toei Animation and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s foundation, MiSK, is set to create anime movies that will captivate audiences worldwide. The kingdom’s investment in video games and anime reflects a growing interest in these forms of entertainment.
