Seasonal Changes in Maine’s Climate: Join the Signs of the Seasons Citizen Science Project

‘Schedule of Citizen Science Trainings for Seasonal Signs’

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension and Maine Sea Grant are hosting a series of workshops next week for those interested in taking part in the Signs of the Seasons citizen science project. This statewide initiative aims to identify and record seasonal changes in over 20 indicator species, including milkweed, butterflies, and loons. These species play a crucial role in understanding Maine’s changing climate.

The first training session will begin in Brunswick on April 4 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at Stimpson’s Point, followed by another session in Falmouth on April 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Gilsland Farm Audubon Center. Those unable to attend in person can participate in a 3-part webinar series that will be available online.

The workshops are free of charge, but registration is mandatory for those who wish to take part. Interested parties can visit extension.umaine.edu/signs-of-the-seasons/training for more information about the project and to sign up for the workshops.
