Zermatt/Cervinia Removed from Alpine Calendar: A Collaborative Effort to Ensure Successful World Cup Races in the Future

Downhill races in Zermatt/Cervinia not included in 2024/25 Alpine World Cup calendar draft

Zermatt/Cervinia has been removed from the Alpine draft calendar for the 2024/25 season after unfavorable weather conditions prevented cross-border Alpine World Cup races for both men and women in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons.

The decision was made after consulting with athletes, teams, and stakeholders, with FIS thanking all parties for their feedback. The three federations will now focus on exploring ways to host future World Cup races in Zermatt and Cervinia. The Local Organizing Committee, along with Zermatt and Cervinia, will carefully consider these proposals to find constructive solutions for the future.

This choice demonstrates the dedication of all parties to ensuring the success of Alpine World Cup races, taking into account factors such as weather, infrastructure, and athlete well-being. This decision was made with the best interest of everyone involved in mind.
